Judy Mikovits is accused of stealing the notebooks after she was fired in August from her job as lead researcher at the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno.
A California judge has set a Dec. 19 hearing in Ventura County Superior Court to determine whether she should be extradited to Reno to face criminal charges related to the alleged theft of notes.
But Annette Whittemore, director of the institute, told the Reno Gazette-Journal that 18 notebooks have been turned over to police in Ventura.
«We are examining them to make sure everything is there,» Whittemore told the newspaper on Monday. «We believe this is all of them, but we have to be sure.»
